What is the Testing area?

The Testing Area allows you to input transactions into the system without posting them. This will create temporary transactions that you may choose to keep once you exit this feature, or you can discard them if they have not had the desired affect or have been entered in by mistake. The Testing Area is user specific, so you do not need to worry about affecting your colleagues work when using this feature unless you are both logged into the same account.

How do I enter the Testing Area?

To enter the Testing Area, please click the Testing Area button at the top right-hand corner of the page next to your ‘Welcome’ button. This will prompt you with a notification:

'Are you sure you want to enable the Testing Area? You will be signed out to enable this feature. When you next log in testing area will be enabled'

When you log back in you will be in the Testing Area. You will be able to identify that you are in Testing Area as there will be a green bar with notification stating:

'Testing Area Enabled: Transactions entered in the Testing Area do not affect the accounts until you leave the Testing Area and press save to keep them'

A pop-up box will also appear informing you that you are now in the Testing Area:

How do I exit the Testing Area

You can turn the Testing Area off by clicking the Testing Area button which will again provide you with a message:

'Are you sure you want to exit the testing area? You will be signed out to disable this feature. When you next log in testing area will be disabled'

You will have one of two options: to exit and discard the transactions or exit and save the transactions.

Choosing to keep the transactions will commit them to your accounts and add them to your ‘Audit Trail’, if you discard the transactions the system will remove the transactions returning the accounts to how it was prior to entering the‘Testing Area’

Once you click one of these options you will be logged out and prompted to log back in to resume normal entry.

What are the benefits of using the Testing Area?

The benefits of the Testing Area are that it will enable you to test transactions without fully committing them to your accounts, allowing for accurate transactions to be made, whilst still being able to produce reports to view the effect these changes have made.

Is there anything you cannot do whilst in the Testing Area?

In the Testing Area you are unable to void transactions, access any admin tasks such as edit roles, user permissions etc or perform a year end routine

Every user will have access to Testing Area unless they have been allocated a ‘Read only’ custom role.

What happens when you exit and save temporary transactions?

If you chose to save the transactions you entered whilst in the Testing Area, they will be added to your ‘Audit Trail and you will be able to locate the newly added transactions from your ‘List transactions’ screen. The most recent transactions shown will be those you have entered whilst in the Testing Area
